Potential "pox bases," however, were led to the "pox base" waiting room after registration. Only very few children were allowed to bypass the collective waiting room--for example, the twelve children appointed by the town government each time a vaccination event was held to serve as backups and ensure that the vaccine did not die out at times of fire or rough weather.
