Branch of Taiwan

This is an advertisement for a variety shop, Kiryū chin shōten. The main store was located in Taiwan's city of Keelung (Ch. Jilong). The branch shop was on Yaeyama's Ishigaki Island. The shop sold various things, including Oolong tea, soda pop, snacks, bamboo hand bags, and other miscellaneous goods. While Ishigaki's commercial business developed as a commercial satellite of the colonial city, Taipei, Yaeyama Islanders obtained modern products through shops in Taiwan or branches of Taiwan shops.
